The #fcc has proposed rules that would greatly impact your privacy and right to free speech. Under the proposed rules service providers would be required to collect and retain customer information for up to 4 years after you discontinue the service. This creates a database of your information ready to be breached, as well as makes your identity a subpoena away from being verified if your phone goes to an event the government doesn’t like. It also impacts whistle-blowing and other avenues of free speech, making it very difficult to have an anonymous connection to the internet and social media if you wanted to expose wrong doing.
